After the innovative Croatian suggestion that invited people to try sea-submerged wine “an international hit by the first underwater winery“, the Coral Wine company now proposes we taste beer matured… in the sea…
Marko Dušević, the owner of Coral Wine has gained expertise in submerging wine bottles underwater and thought of taking his business a step further by creating the first craft beer also submerged in the sea.
“At a secret location near the island of Pag in the Adriatic,” croatiaweek.com reads, “Dušević has a mussel and oyster farm and his company produces, among other things smoked mussels and tuna and marinated shrimp.”
The daring businessman offered a “750ml bottle of Krakens Porter, made by Pivovara 8 from Zadar”, that had been maturing inside the sea for six months “at a depth of 20 metres” for the first tasting.
Speaking to Gastro.hr, Dušević explained that, “We submerged 30 test bottles, and we plan to place around 500 more in the sea by the end of the year, and those will mostly be magnum bottles (1.5l). Our thoughts is that it (beer) changes a lot in the sea, and for the better. This is just part of the project because in the sea we have 100 different types of wine from 30 vineyards.”…. / IBNA

Erdogan sends message of cooperation to Greece
Erdogan sends co-operation message to Greece, but calls for the 8 Turkish FETO members in exchange for the two Greek soldiers
In an interview to the television network NTV, Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent some positive messages to Greece for the Aegean as well as to Alexis Tsipras. But he called for the extradition of the 8 Turkish officers who have sought asylum in Greece and whom Turkey accuse of having taken part in the coup attempt, and in return he offered to resolve the issue of 2 Greek soldiers who are imprisoned in Edirne.
“In Varna it happened the same. They asked us to give the 2 Greek soldiers. And we told them there are 8 soldiers who tried to make a coup. First you have to give them to us. If you give them to us then we can put the others on the table. Because they crossed the border. To get rid of the border trespassing issue and bring the issue back to the table, return to us these coup instigators. And we said that we are then taking the necessary steps in justice”, he said.
The Turkish president also spoke about the flag on an Aegean islet, where 3 Greeks had raised the Greek flag on rocky islets near Fournoi.
“Those who did this did not know that it would be answered immediately. And so it was. Our special forces have taken down the flag and left the rocky island as it is. We do not want the water to be heated. We have no such intention.
Let’s sit on the table to put things aside. That many meters, that much distance. That’s sea, air. From here, airplanes and bulk carriers can cross comfortably”, Erdogan said.
He acknowledged the mistakes of Turkey in the past, stressing that “in our country the number of our Greek fellow citizens was not a small one. There were tens, hundreds of thousands. And from the mistakes that happened in our country, many Greeks left for Greece. As Turkey we have also made mistakes”.
The Turkish president sent a message of cooperation to the Greek government and personally to Alexis Tsipras.
“In Greece, Tsipras as a prime minister is new, dynamic. And he has a desire for new steps. And the president is on the same page. I saw that on my recent visit. Lets put them on the table. Let ‘s put aside the fighting of the type you took more I gave more”./IBNA

La Tribune: “Outrageous confusion between Greece and France”
With the title “outrageous confusion between Greece and France”, the French La Tribune refers to the issue of the lease of two FREMM frigates by the Armed Forces of Greece for five years, something that France’s Defense Minister Florence Parly did not confirm.
Deputy Minister of Defense Fotis Kouvelis said that following a telephone conversation by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras with French President Emmanuel Macron, it was agreed that two FREMM frigates would be leased by Greece.
This announcement came as a surprise to the French Ministry of Defense “Hotel de Brienne”. The French Minister of Armed Forces, Florence Parly, said that “there is no issue (…) though we are, of course, at the disposal our Greek friends to continue to work even more closely”.
In France, however, they state that no lease commitment has been made. In particular, because the French Navy does not seem to be able to lend two frigates to Greece. The French Navy, moreover, was planning to receive eighteen first class frigates, while it received just fifteen./IBNA

Greece has been turned into a criminals’ gathering center, says Turkish Justice Minister
Greek Justice Minister, Stavros Kontonis, receives a letter by his Turkish counterpart, Amdulhamit Gul, following the decision of the Council of State to release one of eight Turkish officers, who are accused in Turkey of having participated in the July 15 coup attempt.
The letter reads as follows:
“The 8 soldiers fleeing Greece by helicopter were among the terrorists who killed 251 people during the coup attempt of July 15 and injured more than 2,000. For the third time, Turkey’s request for extradition has been rejected.
I regretted that one of the terrorists was released.
His neighbor and girlfriend, Greece has never accepted it, seen it as legitimate and condemned the unfair attempt to abolish democracy and democratic institutions in Turkey with the coup against the elected President of the Republic and the Turkish government.
But Greece protects terrorists and shelters them, and this overshadows the solidarity that exists between the two countries.
What we have noticed since the attempted coup d’etat to date is that Greece is a safe harbor of criminals in our country.
It has been known that for two years there have been blood-thirsty members of the terrorist organization in Greece and were arrested while passing or trying to cross illegally in Greece.
Greece is like it’s been turned into a crime gathering center.
We want to see that Alexis Tsipras and the Greek government did not just say they would support Turkey exposed by the coup.
As a first step to announce that the terrorist coup d’état will not be able to stay in Greece and expel them immediately to our country.
I expect you to follow the road of deportation of terrorists who should not be protected in any part of the world.
International law requires terrorists not to be protected. A common fight against terrorism is needed. It is the attitude that every rule of law must have.
I believe that none of us wants this issue to be a wound to our peoples”./IBNA

Stoltenberg: Turkey had every right to react
In an interview with Trouw Dutch daily and Marno de Boer, the General Secretary of NATO Jens Stoltenberg called for an increase in defense spending and made references to Turkey in response to the questions he was asked.
The head of the North Atlantic Alliance reminded that NATO members have agreed that 2% of their GDP should be channeled in the Defence field, but only three countries have done so: “It is logical that military spending has fallen since the end of the Cold War since international tensions have been less too. But if tensions are rekindled, there should be money”, he explains.
“Dutch MPs have asked you very critical questions about Turkey. Were they right or do you think the Netherlands judges Turkey very strictly?” Marno de Boer asked Stoltenberg.
The latter replied that “Turkey is an important partner that played a key role in the fight against ISIS. We have worked with it to close the border with Syria while it provided its air bases in the struggle against the Islamic State. In addition, there is no other NATO member country to have fallen victim to terrorist attacks more than Turkey. They have the right to defend themselves, although, of course, this must be within the limits of the rule of law.”
Asked whether Turkish concerns are taken seriously by NATO for the YPG (-U.S.) alliance, which maintains close ties with the PKK, Jens Stoltenberg noted that, “It is important that Turkey talks this issue through with the U.S. I have told both the Turkish President Erdogan and the U.S. Defense Secretary Mattis that they have to adopt a common attitude. This attitude must, of course, respond to Turkey’s legitimate concerns, but also ensure that progress is made in the fight against ISIS.”
Stoltenberg concluded that “The PKK is on the terrorist organisations’ lists of many countries and (international) organisations. NATO itself does not have a similar list, but Turkey has suffered from many attacks. So they had every right to react.”… / IBNA

Croatia manages to collect and will recycle the first tone of cooking oil
In recent past, Croatia has made considerably important steps towards green energy, energy efficiency and sustainability constantly looking forward to new solution that are also eco friendly.
In this respect, households from various towns and cities across the country began collecting used cooking oil destined for recycling. The first ton collected is a reality.
The result is part of the relevant pilot project initiated in October 2017 by oil and gas company INA. People from Zagreb municipalities Trešnjevka and Maksimir, as well as Čakovec, in northern Croatia, actively participated in it with most of the collected quantity but were not the only ones.
“In October last year, INA offered a new ‘green service‘ to its customers – to collect and dispose of used cooking oil at one of INA’s 30 retail locations in central Croatia. The company provided free funnels for interested customers”, balkangreenenergynews.com reports. The article also reads that “Unlike restaurants, Croatian households have no legal obligation to collect used cooking oils.”
Although Croatia is lagging behind other EU states in the collection of waste cooking oil, so far, the outcome is promising.
Recycling ideas & uses
